A Word From Karen

Kids with Puzzle.wmfWhen I was a kid, my cousin and I had a favorite card game called Speed. We loved to play over and over again. I also enjoyed family game nights with Clue, Monopoly and other board games. You, too, can bring back those memories during National Game & Puzzle Week, Nov. 23-29.

You’ll have an extra hour of evening for those games after you “fall back” an hour on Nov. 2. Make sure your clock is set properly so you can make it to the polls for Election Day on Nov. 4. Then, take a few moments of silence to remember the fallen on Veterans Day, Nov. 11.

When I was younger I remember seeing an old Dick Van Dyke movie called Cold Turkey. He played a minister who challenged his congregation to give up smoking. Even if it’s only for one day, you can stop, too, for the Great American Smokeout on Nov. 20. Do more good and bring your spouse and kids along for Family Volunteer Day on Nov. 22.

Spend a bit more time with the family and consider all the things for which you are grateful on Thanksgiving, Nov. 27. See who knows the most about this holiday by taking the quiz in Treehouse Games.

Learn how to make your holiday a happy one from In a Nutshell.  Keep reading to find out how to recycle your cell phone and the public’s thoughts on digital advertising. Finally, go to Treehouse Trivia to learn the answer to a burning scientific question and how to improve your finances.
